General Settings¶
In the general settings you can customize how the menus should behave when executing actions.
Hold and Release¶
This switch tells octopus you want to keep it open or close the menu when you release the hotkey. (recommended to keep it turned on) This setting can really speed up things, since you don't have to click that much if you want to perform actions.
Hot Zones¶
Hot Zones create zones around the octal menu, so you don't have to touch the buttons it's enough just to be in the desired area to activate it. The Hot Zone Trigger Distance tells octopus how far you have to move with your mouse to trigger an action.
Warning
This works only with click actions. Spinners are not supported. To use an action as a spinner, you still have to hover over the button.
Close On Commit / Execute On Close¶
These are two approaches to help the menu close, when certain operations happen, like dealing with dialogs. In this case it's recommended to use them.
Spinner Click Delay¶
Spinner Click Delay. This is the time that is necessary for a button to execute an action or to turn to spinner mode. - With short clicks, simple actions can be executed. - Holding down the mouse button turns the button to spinner mode.
Octopus Flash (Repeat Last)¶
Octopus Flash is a per menu based repeat last system. Octopus remember the last action if the action is comitted.

Info
Committing an action means that you have clicked with the opposite button. So if you are performing a spinner action with your right mouse button while keep holding it down, you have to click with your left mouse button to commit it.
Keep Flash Default¶
With this setting you can keep the default Repeat Command. Check the snapping octopus menu, where the default is always the Snapping ON/OFF trigger.
Flash Delay¶
This defines what is the timeout press length, where it counts as a repeat last action. After the delay (in millisecs) the menu shows up. The default value si normally 250 ms.
Default Flash¶
Here you can set the default Flash action, which can be Single Click Left / Right action.
Presets¶
You can save the look and feel.
